Mr Christos Tsironis is a Consultant General, Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon at the Lindo Wing, Imperial health care, specialising in upper GI and minimally invasive bariatric (weight loss) surgery, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass and gastric balloon procedures.

He is the Lead for acute surgery at his NHS base, St Marys Hospital, Imperial health care, one of the world leaders in healthcare. He is actively involved in Bariatric and Upper GI research, with an extensive number of publications. He provides training in advanced laparoscopic skills and faculty in trauma courses (DSTS, ATLS).

Mr Tsironis performs regular bariatric surgeries including revisional surgeries thus possessing the expertise required to in all stages of weightloss management. He regularly performs revisional surgery for weight regain and complications following bariatric surgery, and he is also part of the bariatric multidisciplinary decision-making team at St Mary’s Hospital.

Apart from weightloss surgeries his expertise is also in gallbladder surgery, abdominal wall hernias and abdominal trauma surgery. He has undertaken more than 3000 operations. He continues to learn from experience, peers and research striving for evidence-based excellence.

Mr. Tsironis gained his primary medical qualification at the University of Ioannina School of Medicine, Greece in 2004. He then completed his training in General Surgery in Greece and earned his Master’s degree in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. He later joined the GMC specialist register for General Surgery in 2014. After this, Mr. Tsironis moved to London where he was appointed Senior Clinical Fellow in the Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery Department at Imperial College NHS Trust, where he also undertook Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery. Upon completion of this fellowship, he was appointed Consultant Surgeon at St Mary’s Hospital in 2015.
